At Pence Vineyards, we believe great wine begins in the vineyard. Our 200-acre estate in the Santa Rita Hills is home to carefully farmed vines rooted in clay and limestone soils, nurtured by a unique coastal climate we call refrigerated sunlight. These conditions—paired with old-world techniques and modern precision—allow us to craft wines of honesty, elegance, and place.
We focus exclusively on Burgundian grape varieties, particularly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which flourish in our cool-climate vineyard. Each wine we produce tells a story of terroir, with every bottle expressing the distinct personality of its vineyard block—from color and aroma to structure and age-worthiness.
At the heart of our philosophy is a deep respect for nature and time. As proprietor Blair Pence explains, “Our wines embody exactly what the vineyard produces.” This commitment to authenticity drives our meticulous farming and minimal intervention approach in the cellar.
