Exploring the Seasonal Ecology of Western Monarch Butterflies
Milkweed, Migration, and Monarchs:
A public lecture with scientist Aramee Diethelm, PhD
Join us for a fascinating exploration with ecologist Aramee Diethelm of western monarch butterflies and the science that is being done to conserve them.
Each spring, western monarch butterflies return to breeding areas across the West, but we know surprisingly little about how they spread across the landscape during the summer. As part of a multi-state monitoring network attempting to understand these patterns, Dr. Diethelm will share information about monarch natural history, reproduction, breeding habitat, and how we might think about conserving the diverse habitats western monarchs rely on throughout their lives.
