With a population of 467, Ballard is the smallest of the region’s towns yet still holds some of the valley’s most treasured gems. A “Little Red Schoolhouse” has been educating young Ballard residents since 1883. Today it’s one of the top-performing schools in Santa Barbara County and the bell still rings to summon students. This community is home to The Ballard Inn & Restaurant – one of the most romantic B&Bs in the region where delectable wine-country fusion meals are savored. It’s well worth a brief visit to Ballard to see historic homes, churches, miniature donkeys as well as experience the serenity and charm of a well-preserved country burg.
