We started with a simple idea: grow the best grapes possible and let them speak for themselves. Our 17-acre vineyard in Los Olivos sits on the only south-facing hill in Ballard Canyon. Every morning, we watch the fog roll in, feel the sun warm our backs, and listen to the wind turn the old windmill blades. Farming isn’t a job for us—it’s a way of life.
At first, we sold every grape we grew. Winemakers lined up, hoping to get their hands on our fruit. Then one day, we decided to keep a little for ourselves. We made wine just for family and friends. Two years later, people were calling, asking for more. And just like that, SAARLOOS + Sons became a winery.
We believe the best wine starts with the best grapes. That’s why we farm every vine ourselves. No outsourcing, no shortcuts—just honest, hard work. Every bottle we produce carries our family name, and we don’t take that lightly.
