Art Workshop – Block Print Holiday Cards
California Nature Art Museum
Join CalNAM (California Nature Art Museum) and Block Print Artist Angelina LaPointe of Sidecar Press for a printmaking workshop on Sunday, December 14th, 2025, from 12:30PM-4:30 PM. She will guide you through planning, carving, and hand-printing a linoleum block print card, while sharing tips and tricks from her 15+ years of printmaking experience. This is an entry-level class, but experienced artists are welcome. Leave with a small batch of holiday cards to add a personal touch to your winter holiday celebrations.
About Block Printing: Art Workshop
Block printing is a relief printing method in which a design is carved into a solid block, inked on the raised surface, and transferred onto paper or fabric. LaPointe’s process drafts a comprehensive drawing; transfers the image to a linoleum block, and hand carves lines and shapes into the block. Finally, she locks it into her 1896 Chandler and Price letterpress, and prints in editions ranging from 5 to 200.
About the Instructor: Art Workshop
Angelina LaPointe is a Lompoc, California-based multidisciplinary artist who specializes in block and letterpress printing.
The founder of Sidecar Press, her vibrant prints range from portraiture to her native Central Coast’s flora and fauna. She interweaves inspirations from art nouveau to the Russian avant-garde — as well as traditional tattooing, punk posters, and midcentury Time-Life science books.
The class fee for this workshop is $65 for CalNAM Members and $75 for CalNAM Non-Members, per participant, all supplies included. Advance registration is required, 15 attendees max. This class is best suited for ages 16yrs+.
