Solvang Antique’s annual Western Art Exhibit opens October 8th in conjunction with Judith Hale Gallery. A wonderful selection of new works for this opening includes paintings by noted artists Nancy Davidson, Howard Carr, Betty Carr, Lynelle Echeverria, and Jean Lubin. There are also new wood carvings by Bill Churchill and Lou Mariani, and bronze sculpture by Dee Prater and Joseph Krausz.
“I look forward to this annual exhibit of Western artwork,” says Judith Hale. “We have had a great response from our artists and I am overwhelmed by the rich colors and tones, and with the relationship of the cowboys and their horses.”
In Davidson’s latest painting Hale notes, “She has captured that special moment with a cowboy standing alongside his horse—you can almost sense the relationship that exists between them.” She adds, “In a large format oil painting, Davidson has masterfully captured colors and tones of the materials and textures being worn.” Davidson is a noted artist from Santa Barbara, recognized for her large striking equine images. She participates nationally in many equine art events.
Howard and Betty Carr are husband and wife painters from Arizona. Each one is widely recognized and honored in the art world. Betty Carr was honored to be asked to join the American Impressionist Society, a very prestigious group of impressionistic painters. She has been a highly valued teacher for the Scottsdale Art School. Howard Carr is also an impressionistic painter, slightly looser in his style. His genre is very versatile, often using garden or courtyard themes. Recently he has done a variety of chefs, both restaurant and barbecue cooks, and for this event he has the cowboys at the campfire. They are great ranch and kitchen choices.
You will enjoy the selection of artwork that is on display for this special event. Stop by to see the many different artworks on display October 8th through November 14th.
