On Thursday, October 15th, PHP will celebrate “World Food Day” with an “Empty Bowls: Dine and Donate” campaign to highlight the fact that in the United States and even in the Santa Ynez and Los Alamos Valleys, many children and adults go to bed hungry. There are two fundraising components to this campaign.
First, there is a direct mail campaign sent to over 3,800 household soliciting funds for the PHP Food Program. A brown bag mailer and insert are sent the first week in October of each year, which now also includes the Empty Bowls Raffle. To participate in this year’s Empty Bowls Raffle, download Raffle Tickets ($5.00 each or $30.00 for 8) from www.syvphp.org/events/empty-bowls and return them to PHP.
Second, local restaurants and wineries will donate a portion of their meals and tasting sales on October 15th towards PHP’s Food Program. Each year, we have incredible and generous restaurants and wineries (listed below) that have signed on to participate (click here to download a participation form). PHP promotes these restaurants and encourages supporters to dine out via the direct mail piece, press releases, web site postings, and by posting special Empty Bowls Campaign posters in their windows. Now… go eat out!
