- The Wildling Museum of Art and Nature
The Wildling Museum of Art and Nature is proud to present a special afternoon with artist Alan Sonneman. Join us as he discusses his photorealistic landscape paintings of the Sierra Mountains. Sonneman treks through the passes of Owens Valley and ascends the mountains using paths based on ancient aboriginal trade routes. He will spend several days in one place, taking time to find out how the light changes and the scenery evolves. His paintings illustrate what he learns from the location and try “to convey this sense of place, how it surrounds you, how you must immerse yourself in it to hear its voice.”
Two of Sonneman’s paintings are currently featured in the Wildling’s Celebrating the National Parks of California exhibition. Looking Across Upper Dusy Basin Towards Thunderbolt Peak and North Palisade so impressed the judges it was awarded the first prize artwork in the exhibition.
Celebrating the National Parks of California will be on view at the Wildling Museum through October 3, 2016.
