Culture Lover – Solvang

Solvang’s Danish Culture

Gather in beautiful Solvang with its old world European architecture and Danish history and culture. Here, boutique hotels, like The Landsby, are a perfect example of “hygge” with its sleek Scandinavian design.

Enticing aromas flow out of authentic Danish bakeries, Aebleskiver breakfasts, and hip coffee joints. The walkable downtown streets are lined with Danish influenced buildings and architecture.

Danish History

Elverhøj Museum of History & Art showcases Solvang’s Danish heritage along with modern and classic art. The Wildling Museum of Art & Nature offers a unique perspective on the importance of preserving our natural legacy.

Visit one of the few remaining independent book store, The Book Loft, which comes complete with an antiquarian book section. Upstairs you will find the attic museum dedicated to Hans Christian Andersen.

Arts and Entertainment

The open-air Solvang Festival Theater hosts live stage performances and concerts.  More than 150 boutiques and galleries provide retail therapy. Solvang offers everything from sophisticated Danish brands and sculptural design pieces, to toys, to locally-made, artisan goods, gifts and apparel.  While hand-crafted candy and chocolates, and great selection of cheese, spices and meats from all around the world, provide sweet and savory treats.

Just beyond town, you will find world-class golfing, tennis, and horseback riding.

Solvang Tours

In town, with a windmill backdrop, try the horse-drawn trolley or guided Food & Photo tours to educate and entertain. Add a dose of hygge to your weekend – plan your escape.
